The Test of Knowing Christ
1st John 2:1-3
My little children these things write I unto you that ye sin not. And if any man sin we have an advocate with the Father Jesus Christ the righteous And he is the propitiation for our sins and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. And hereby we do know that we know him if we keep his commandments.
"The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever."
1st John 2:17
And the world passeth away and the lust thereof but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
And this is the promise that He has promised us eternal life.
1st John 2:24-25
Let that therefore abide in you which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you ye also shall continue in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that he hath promised us even eternal life.
We are called children of God.
1st John 3:1
Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us that we should be called the sons of God therefore the world knoweth us not because it knew him not.
He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
1st John 4:4
Ye are of God little children and have overcome them because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.
This summarizes the blessing of the believer’s subjective witness—the very life that we possess in Christ expressed in the grace and power He provides all the time. It is the very experience of knowing Christ in one’s life. Life is only in Him, so it is impossible to have it without Him.
1st John 5:11-12
And this is the record that God hath given to us eternal life and this life is in his Son He that hath the Son hath life and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
